This week we discussed presentations and the how there are many different types. Each type of presentation can be used in various ways to hook students into the material being taught. Something that I really want to take back into my classroom is the use of the presentation tools we have been introduced to so far this year. My students are not at the point where they could use the programs we have learned about independently, but with time and practice I feel they could use a modified form. It is definitely something I can use in my teaching for the rest of the year and possibly adjust and alter for my students to use a few of the simpler presentations tools for their research projects we will complete towards the end of the year. I can really see how older grades can use variations of presentation styles allowing them to express themselves and also use the best method to communicate their information.
This week I really enjoyed using Glogster. I would love to try to use this program with my students and their 5th grade big buddy class. I feel this would be a wonderful way to incorporate a simple research project and also allow for the 5th graders to really take the teacher role to help my kinders understand the program! The gallery walk at the end so we could all see each other’s Glogs would be so much fun.
I was that student who would always resort to using PowerPoint because I wasn’t familiar with many other programs. My technology class in undergrad really opened my eyes to an assortment of new technology I could use in several ways. We were introduced to and required to use Podcasts, voicestreams and Wikis! I am excited to learn more about Prezi. What a wonderful time to be introduced to this presentation tool. Next week, I will be presenting on Chapter 8 of Brain Rules about Stress and I look forward to using Prezi to find a creative and captivating way to present the information.
